John Calipari suffered only his second double-digit loss as Kentucky basketball coach Thursday when his Cats went down 64-50 to Notre Dame.
UK’s young lineup struggled against the experienced Fighting Irish, and seemed to be intimidated by the hostile home crowd at Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind.
Graduate student guard Julius Mays was the lone Cat to put in a positive performance, posting 16 points and three assists in 35 minutes of floor time.
In other Kentucky sports news, the volleyball team gets its NCAA Tournament underway today.
The 16th seed Cats face East Tennessee State for a spot in round two, with the game at Memorial Coliseum getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
UK hockey is also in action this weekend, with a pair of games against Bowling Green.
Cats fans can catch the action in person with a late visit to Lexington Ice Center, with Friday and Saturday’s games both starting at midnight.
