UK Wind Symphony Orchestra Plays at Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate Arbor Celebration

UK’s Wind Symphony Orchestra will play at the first ever Arbor Celebration at Ashland, the Henry Clay estate, Sunday, April 21. The event is free and open to the public. It begins at 1 p.m. with the Wind Symphony performance taking place at 3 p.m.The UK Wind Symphony is comprised of wind and percussion performers in the UK School of Music.  The UK Symphony is well-respected among university concert bands and its recordings have been nominated for Grammy consideration. The Wind Symphony toured China in 2008 in celebration of China’s hosting of the 2008 Summer Olympics. The University of Kentucky Wind Symphony, under the direction of John Cody Birdwell.  will perform patriotic marches and overtures to celebrate nature. Arbor Day is April 26. According to the Arbor Day Foundation its mission is to “revitalize our forests and transform our cities and towns.”
