According to NeighborhoodScout.com, Lexington has suffered 747 violent crimes this calendar year, including 14 murders. NeighborhoodScout.com, also, ranks Lexington a 10 on their 100 point scale of safe neighborhoods, 100 being the safest. Lexington’s case for being a safe city to live in was not helped Saturday night as a shootout led to the death of a local man.
Saturday night, Lexington’s crime rate rose. Kentucky native Johntel Crocker was shot and killed at Diva’s Nightclub on Winchester Road. After an investigation, police suspect 27 year old Joshua Lee Tevis was the trigger man in the murder. Police suspect that a fight broke out at the nightclub and guns were drawn. An arrest warrant has been issued for Tevis.
