No debt deal reached Tuesday

After a day of meetings on Capitol Hill, the House of Representatives did not hold a vote raise the debt ceiling and end the federal government shutdown.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) reportedly left the capitol saying, “No votes tonight. We’ll see you in the morning,” according to CNN.

CNN is reporting that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) are again in negotiations.

As of 10 p.m., Politico reported that “Reid and McConnell  are expected to brief their respective caucuses Wednesday, hours before the country could fail to pay its bills for the first time in history.”
