UK Women’s Soccer defeated Ohio State Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a score of 3-1. According to the release the team had three goals in the second half, by Caitlin Landis, Arin Gilliland and Zoe Swift. In the first half, the Wildcats created several chances to score, as Kentucky launched 12 shots to OSU’s four. With the win, Kentucky will make back-to-back apperances in the second round of the Tournament for the first time in program history. Head Coach Jon Lipsitz explained after the win that, “everyone is involved and everyone is special.” Lipsitz also shared about his confidence in his team after discussing it with fellow coaches, Michelle Rayner and Ian Carry. 984 fans came out Friday, marking the first time fans were able to cheer from the newly-renovated UK Soccer Complex. The cats will face the winner of No. 2 UCLA and SDSU, which will be played Friday night.
