Horse racing, warm spring weather, and Kentuckians placing bets: Keeneland’s spring season has been an eventful one. But this Friday, April 25th, marks the final day for Keeneland’s April races, and will close its doors until Fall 2014.
The Keeneland racetrack will host quite a closing day, finishing off a month of races with the $250,000 Dixiana Elkhorn. At 6 p.m. Friday, Keeneland will close with a live concert on the lawn featuring local country music favorites Laura Bell Bundy and Sundy Best. Although the concert is free, a $10 donation is suggested since the event is a charitable one; proceeds will benefit the Markey Cancer Foundation. Details are listed at Keeneland.com.
And if horse enthusiasts still need to get their racing fix after Keeneland closes its doors for the summer, fear not! The Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby will take place the very next weekend on May 2nd and 3rd.
