Kentucky baseball ranks first in most offensive categories in the Southeastern Conference this season, and the Wildcats will take on the team nipping at their heels in those categories.
Ole Miss will travel to Lexington, Ky., for a three-game series this weekend between the top two offensive teams in the SEC. The opener of the series will be 6:30 on Friday, followed by a 1 p.m. match-up on Saturday and a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
With a 27-14 overall record (9-9 in the SEC), Kentucky leads the conference in batting average with a .312 mark, followed by the Rebels’ .300 mark.
As for pitching, Kentucky will use its weekend rotation of A.J. Reed, Dylan Dwyer and Andrew Nelson. Reed is having the season of his life so far, with 16 home runs, to go along with his 7-1 record and 2.15 ERA.
The Wildcats are coming off a series this week against Tennessee Tech, the NCAA leader in runs scored. Kentucky took the final game of the series on Tuesday, 15-13, compiling 10 home runs and 31 hits with Tennessee Tech.
Currently ranked 17th in the country by Baseball America, Kentucky will look to move up those rankings with a take-down of No. 12 Ole Miss.
All three games during the series with Ole Miss will be broadcast on WLAP 630-AM in Lexington and WKJK 1080-AM in Louisville. Live video, audio and stats will also be available on UKathletics.com.
For those interested in attending the match-ups, single game ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for seniors and children. Parking at Cliff Hagan Stadium is free in the C8 lot behind Shively Sports Center and in Parking Structure 7 on the corner of Complex Drive and Jerry Claiborne Way.
