Lexington, Ky- All soon-to-be high school juniors and seniors will have an opportunity to enhance their football skills on June7. The University of Kentucky is hosting its annual Saturday Night Prime Time Camp for high school athletes.
Kentucky football coaches will teach campers the same fundamentals that they teach their UK players. Players will be able to showcase their talent in front of college coaches while learning the finer points of each offensive and defensive position. Campers will be able to play under the lights and getting the closest feeling to the college football atmosphere.
“Players are able to experience a real college practice while going through actual drills that we run in practice,” said graduate assistant Myles Poole.
“Campers love to play in the college environment, it gives them an opportunity to prepare themselves for the next level while feeling like they are already a part of the college playing field.” The camp offers a great way for players to further develop their fundamental skills. High school players from across the state are able to see how they compare against the top competition in the state.
High school players are able to learn what to expect during the college recruiting process and receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the UK facilities. Athletes get as close to the action as possible when campers get a firsthand experience of the game day locker-room, the players lounge and the team meeting rooms. “Last year, campers were really impressed with the accommodations Kentucky football players received,” said tour guide Tyler Buttleman. “The tours are a great way to show off our new and upcoming elegant facilities.”
The camp offers a unique opportunity to experience the college atmosphere while taking the next step in becoming a prominent athlete. Campers can pre-register online on the official University of Kentucky site for $40.00 per camper and the University is accepting walk-ups for $50.00 per camper. Registration takes place from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Nutter Indoor Facility. Campers only need to bring their cleats and they will receive a UK football camp T-shirt.
