The University of Kentucky football program is expecting big things from a fresh face.
Braylon Heard, a transfer from the University of Nebraska, was one of the top newcomers for the 2014 season. He spent his first two seasons at NU as one of the many running backs filling the backfield. In his time their, he accumulated 462 yards and 4 touchdowns.
In his first game in a Wildcat uniform against the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks, Heard left little doubt he was the real deal. The junior out of Youngstown, Ohio had two carries for two scores and a total of 116 yards. Heard currently has an average of 58.0 yards per carry.
While Heard impressed in his debut with the Cats, he is once again having to share a crowded backfield. Other running backs on the roster who received carries last Saturday are junior Josh Clemons, sophomore Jojo Kemp and freshmen Mikel Horton and Stanley “Boom” Williams.
Heard suffered a minor ankle on Saturday and is doubtful in the upcoming game agains Ohio University.
