The Kentucky Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is hosting five events across the state to raise money this year.
The Greater Lexington Walk To Cure Diabetes will be located at Whitaker Bank Ballpark on September 20.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the walk will start at noon.
Participants will walk for two miles to raise money for type 1 diabetes research.
So far, the JDRF has raised $39,292.46, according to the Walk to Cure Diabetes’s event website.
This year’s goal is to raise $90,421.
Funds are raised as walkers ask friends, relatives and co-workers to sponsor them, according to the Kentucky Chapter’s website.
Lexington, Bowling Green and Prestonsburg will all host their events in September, while Louisville and Paducah have already hosted their walks in support of the JDRF.
